Finished editing my 1st video

So this week I am almost done with my power point and have finished and editing my video. Then I edited my power point and next week I am bringing the dry ice soda and testing it to see how many pieces of dry ice it takes it to fully carbonate. Then I am also going to make a video on that and finish my power point.

Upgrade Potato Launcher

What I did today in my Genius Hour was I found out how to upgrade it and what I found was being able to add more launchers, Having to be able to hold a explosion in a potato launcher,and being able to add more without the launcher exploding.

Close to Completion

My G40 project is to conduct a study on running, pertaining to diet. I would like to find the optimal diet to increase speed. As I have been doing so, I have made serious progress. On February 5, I ran my control run, which I am using to base my experimental data off of. Eight days later, I finished my first trial run. This increased my speed from my control run by 0:00.08 seconds. Yesterday, I completed my second trial run, in which I used a different diet from before. This increased my speed from the control run by by 34.93 seconds, which I am very pleased with. I believe this is because I partially used syrup, which is high-glucose, fast-absorbing energy. I hope that as I complete my final trial in the next week, I may be as effective in increasing speed as I was this week.

Volleyball tournament

Today I went through how the games would be and which teachers could go downstairs to watch. I also figured out where different homerooms would be for ISTA.

This past week we have been calling places to see if they have any fabric they were going to throw away and we would take it.  Just so we can do more of  a reusable project. Today I am looking up more places we can get fabric from.

Genius hour post 7

This weekend I plan on going to Walmart so I can get a capo. A capo is a piece of metal that you put around the neck of the guitar and it will change the sounds and notes you can use. When I get the capo I can learn more songs and become better.When I learn more songs I will have even more things to show for this and I will-then always remember what I did for genius hour.

Part 2 to my project

Part Two

           Since I already finished writing the song in my head, I have decided to write the music piece on as sheet music. I talked to my parents about this and my mom said when I finish writing the sheet music, I could possibly get it copyrighted. Another thing that I could do is make a CD with the music pieces I've written. Once I have a bunch of CD's, I could sell them. So far with writing the music I'm probably around half way through the piece. 

G-60 Update

I already took off all the side pads and the seat and gave the bike a good scrub with some water and some dawn soap. I got a new spark plug, a new ignition, and some oil. Now i''m soaking the rusty chain in some old gas/oil mix. Im working on getting the old ignition out and the new ignition in.

So last week, my dad asked the bosses if it was okay to for me to teach. The bosses said that was a great idea, and the date would be March 27, 2017. 

Today, I would like to start a power point to teach. I will have how to take insulin, what happened to their bodies/ pancreas and how to treat high and low blood sugars. 

Hopefully, I get about 2 slides done by today, and finish the power point in about 2 weeks.

Like I said in the last blog, I am learning to sign on songs. The song I am the best at is Heathens by twenty-one pilots. I am starting to learn Dollhouse Melanie Martinez, it is hard, but it has a lot of repeating words.

G60- April Hanson

My G60 is knitting and crocheting different things. I wasn't working on it that much so I thought I would change it, but then I didn't really know what to do. So I am still doing knitting and crocheting. I am crocheting something right now, but I don't know what It is yet.

This week I needed to find out the truck size for what i can order online so i do not order the wrong thing.  I asked Mr. Kizuka what the depth was and it was 8.25. So now I need to look up what is the right truck size for my skateboard.

Samson's Genius Hour #10

Welcome back to my blog. Not as much progress today, procrastination got in the way. I hope it won't get in the way over next weekend (the days I work on my game). Honestly, I don't have much to update this week, so good luck on your Genius Hour Projects 7th Grade. Don't procrastinate.

I finally got the game I want to play on my channel, and I set up my master account on my ps4 so I can record it. I also have got some manga I want to do first impressions on. I also got adobe photoshop so I can edit videos so I can make them better. I made my first video, but the file got corrupted, so I can't upload it. Hopefully my other videos will have more luck then that one.

G60 - Emma Ertel

Over the past week, I have managed to create a sort of song theme to my piano book. I want the songs to sound like professional songs so I have been working really hard on them. I have only made about 3 songs so far but that's okay. I want the project to last the whole year. As far as the cover of the piano book goes, it is about finished. I want to add some little touches and all that, but besides the spiral ring on the spine, I don't really have anymore to do. I have been super busy with dance since there is a competition coming up, but I am doing my best to work on the project a little bit every night. I plan to get most of the songs finished by next weeks genius hour. I am very excited for how this project is going to turn out.

G40 update #2

For this update I drilled my holes for my trucks and wheels and put them on. I came up with graphics and we are now printing them on vinyl to put on the bottom of my board.

I have been lately trying to figure out how to do a graph to lay out the data I will be collecting soon. Now i'm planing to start building the graphs. In the upcoming weeks I plan to collect my data, add MORE music to my playlists and set up the graphs for when ready.

John Hughes

My project is to make a slide show about John Hughes.This week I made a slide of the 10 most successful movies. I then made 10 more slides about those movies. The slides show the rating, genre, release date and a couple other things.

Project Update - Erianne Fox

Surprisingly, I actually got a lot of work done this week. I got all the supplies I need to make the sword and shield and most of the supplies I need to make the costume. I cut out the main shield pieces, painted them and glued them together. Now all I have to do is cut out the symbols that go on the shield, paint those symbols, and glue them on. Yay..... I am making the sword and shield out of foam board and the foam gets everywhere when I'm cutting it. (Well, I am cutting it with a pocket knife, so that might be the problem.) This week I am planning to finish the shield and at least cut out the sword pieces. By the way, I  am making the master sword and the hylian shield and I am making a blue Link costume. It's going to be blue because I have a lot of blue fabric and not green fabric. I might as well stick to what I have already, that way this cosplay doesn't cost nearly as much as the huge cosplays. (The ones that are made for photo shoots or cosplay projects. Those usually cost  somewhere between $100 and $300, or maybe even more)  The costume will most likely not make much sense, (mixing old and new games) but I chose these because I feel like these are iconic Legend of Zelda items and I do actually want to incorporate and combine old and new games.

I told my dad I have to do a project on the Polaris. Did he listen, no. so i changed my g40 project into making a wooden shaft and stringing a head. This is important to me because i'm spending money on having someone string a head for me when if I learned it I wouldn't have to pay people to do it. Thats what im gonna do for my G4o project.

Samson's Genius Hour #9

Welcome back to my blog again. More progress has been made on the game. I now have an empty room with no decoration and the player. Remember, game making is a process and isn't as easy as pressing a button. Anyway, my plan is to have some sort of obstacle and a place to go to the next level by the next Wednesday. No decorating or making my game look tip top shape yet. I need to make at least one complete game before decorating comes in to play (pun not intended). Please don't try to rush me on my game though.  To be honest i don't think I can do this project. So i started thinking about starting over making a new g40 project. I don't know what i will make it on or even if i am allowed to do it so its going to be a hard rest of the school year.

Trial #1

I am progressing very nicely in my genius hour project. My goal is to find an effective diet to benefit in means of speed, and I have done just that! On February 5, I ran my control run, which I can use to base my experimental data on. I used my current, normal diet to fuel my run. Two days ago, February 13, I used a different diet to complete my run. This diet affected my run by decreasing my finishing time by 00:0.08. Though this finishing time is a minimal success, it still counts. I hope that the next time my run will decrease by whole seconds. As I go through this process, I have logged all my data into a graph to record the variables. I have made sure to keep as many variables as possible the same to gain the most accurate results. I am planning to complete my trials by the next genius hour period.

Updates on G40 project!!

So far into my genius hour project, I have established where I am going to teach. My dad asked the bosses and they said that it was great! I will be teaching diabetics on March 27, 2017. 

Today, I will still be creating the flyers to hand out. They are almost finished and ready to print. I need to add a heading, and the date on which I am teaching. 

A benefit is that there will be a translator there to translate my language into Spanish for the Spanish speaking people. Not everyone who has diabetes speaks English, and all diabetics have to be taught.

Hopefully, I can make a difference in their lives, and in mine.  

Hypnosis week 2

This week I looked up videos of hypnosis and found that most hypnosis is self hypnosis. This means that if you want to hypnotize someone the subject has to be willing to be hypnotized. I learned that some hypnosis is easy while others are not. Sometimes, it can take many tries to hypnotize someone. That is what I learned this week i'll give you another update next week.

Hypnosis: first go

This week I have some very great news. I was able to do self hypnosis on myself! I found this guy on YouTube called Ultrahypnosis. Anyway, I was able to get on his channel and he has some pretty cool stuff such as sleep hypnosis or relaxing hypnosis. I tried the sleep hypnosis and if you stare very hard at it and really focus you can actually begin to fall asleep which happend to me. I can't really describe how it felt but check out his channel in the link below.

Signing

My G-40 is to learn to be able to sign to a couple of songs. The songs I am signing to is Daily Signs. She does a variety of songs, for an example she does the songs Heathens, Thinking Out Loud, and Closer, these are all popular songs. she does the tutorials to, they show how to do the signing to the songs.

LED skateboard (G40)

This week I need to clear coat my skateboard so none of the paint chips at any point. I also need to get the trucks off of the Internet.  So I have a lot to do because I do not know when they are going to come in time. I just hope they don't come late. When the trucks come I need to apply them to my skateboard. Today I need to ask Mr. Kizuka what size trucks I would need for the size board I have.

G40 - Pillows!!!

So far I have created two pillows and decided that the price of the pillows will be $4.00. I am going to be making 10 total pillows and will hopefully have at least one more done by the end of the week. I have decided that I definitely have to get more serious about my project and make more pillows more frequently. I already have several people who have said they would buy a pillow from me so I know that once I start selling them I will have some customers for my pillows.

G40 Sword

I have talked to Mr. Mohn he said he would help me. Today I brought in the wood. I have to get the layout and give it to Mr. Mohn. Then hopefully can start making my sword. I have the materials other than the wrap for the handle and I still don't know if I am gonna paint it yet. If I do paint it it is gonna be painted like Tensa Zangetsu a sword from the anime Bleach. If I do paint it like Tensa Zangetsu I am gonna add the other details that the sword has.

Yesterday I got to meet with Mr. Auker and he said that the pool cue would be to challenging, so he said that I should take it down a notch and said that I could make a pen instead as a starter, because the freshman at the high school are making pens and he said that he would have extra materials.

Update on G60 - Emma Ertel

Last week, I decided I wanted to make the format of my piano book a little differently. Since I am trying to make this project last the whole year, and it is starting to drag on, I am going to finish the piano book in the next few weeks and then just present it when I have to. I actually want to make about 5 songs because I think it will take to long to write 10 songs. I found a store around my area that will make any type of book into a spiral bound one so once I finish my piano book I am going to take it there. That will be much easier than trying to do something like that on my own.

I made my first video and it wasn't the best, I admit. I need better lighting and audio quality. I'm going to upload it today on my channel. I've changed my channel name to hades_pOTAKU and I got adobe Photoshop fir my birthday so I can make my channel icon and banner. If you could, it would really help if you checked out my channel, when the video is up. I will be doing gaming, anime, manga, and vocaloid, plus a few vlogs here and there. I've always wanted to become a youtuber, and now is my chance to do it. I will also start my own patreon when I get the chance, along with a twitter account.

I am sorry I did not post last week but I was working on a video that took me at least 1 hour to edit. This week I plan to make more script for my movie and taking breaks by filming short clips. Next week I plan to do the same thing as this week but finish the script.

This past week all I have really been doing is making tweaks on my logo(keep it blue). Today I am doing research on which marine biology agency I will donate the money I get to. Tomorrow I am hopefully going to order the fabric and once that comes I can start making bags.

Rubik's Cube Progress 18JPWerley

Today I plan to video myself solving the first layer of the 3x3 Rubik's Cube. This week I plan to edit the video and share it with whoever would like it.

I have done about half of the boxes on my tank for the details. The only other thing I could do would be cleaning it up and make different turrets for it. I am probably going to do touch ups then I will think about doing the turrets.

Ted talk

Hi my name is Devin Kohl
Today I'm going to explain to you on how I made a potato launcher and how it works.
First we went to home depot and got all the necessary material, we brought all the materials home and cut everything to length. We then glued everything together not ordinary glue but PVC glue. Once everything was glued together we were ready to shoot. After that, the process of shooting to potato launcher is simple. Spray your hair spray into the appropriate chamber put the cap on tight. Lite the igniter and watch it fly.

Three Point Contest Progress

This week I have been working on getting more people interested. I have talked to people who have previously stated that they are interested but still did not fill out the form. If you haven't been paying attention to the announcements, if you are in any way interested go to Mr. Jenkins teacher page on the school website and fill out the simple form. If there is any problems with other school-sponsored extracurricular activities, please let me know.

Cake Update

I made all of these things and they turned out great. The first thing is a pineapple cupcake with a pineapple chunk in the middle with a vanilla buttercream icing.The second and third things are fondant i just made them in different colors and then just a basic white. Last the third thing is a vanilla cake covered in buttercream to help the blue fondant stick.

I hope to make this cake by the end of genius hour. im not sure flavors yet but i still do hope to make it.

Landen Jamison Skateboarding

This week I figured out how to get video's to Youtube and now I will try to make a video or transfer them to a Google Slide. I created my own Youtube channel Landen Jamison and I will try to Edit some videos and put on my channel. I feel pretty confident about my Skateboarding abilities and tricke so I am going to start to work on the Video's and the Ted Talk at the end of the year.

Needing new supplies !

Okay so I wasn't here last week to present but I asked Mrs. Henry if I could present next time and she said that's fine. So that is why i'm back one post. But anyways i have been really wanting to get some new supplies for a long time but I never got around to do so. But I have decided to ask my parents this weekend. I'm hoping I can go to Goodwill and then A.C.Moore or Johan fabrics and or a craft store to get fabric glue. The reason why I've been wanting to get new supplies is that I feel that the clothes that I have been using aren't really what I prefer. I know I've been using them but I really what a fresh start with these new clothes. The first ones I had made were just starters  things I could practice with. But anyways I'm gonna be looking for new pieces of clothing

Samson's Genius Hour #8

Hiya 7th Grade! Welcome back to my blog. Progress has indeed been made on the game, hooray! Not as much as I would like, but it is going fine at the moment. Now that I have gotten the progress update part out the way, it's time to answer some questions. In my Genius Hour group, one of my friends keeps asking me about the game. My idea to responding to this is answering some of his questions, along with some I came up with myself, in my blog. I of course know that only about 3 or 4 people look at my blog (not counting any teachers), but might as well get it out the way.

Q: What is your game going to be called?
A: It's not that far into development to be named.

Q: Do you have any plans for this game?
A: I believe to make it some sort of puzzle game.

Q: Can I see how your game is doing?
A: No.

Q: Can I play it as a test run?
A: I will ask when I want people to test my game. It is likely to be some of my friends.

Q: Any character names?
A: No, stop asking.

Q: Any sort of release date?
A: Hopefully I have something working by the end of February. Even if it's not fully working, I just want to have something at least by then.

Q: Who do you usually watch for tutorials and tips?
A: I don't really have a main tutorial guy I watch. However for tips and tricks, I watch Extra Credits. They're an awesome group of people who give information for game developers and give their thoughts on games. Here is a little introduction to them: Watch Extra Credits - Because Games Matter

2 Min. Ted Talk

For my genius hour project there is my potato gun, I have my potato gun built at my house. I tested it and when I shoot it there's flames that come out.

Switching Projects....again

I am switching projects again, as you can probably tell by the title. The YouTube channel just didn't work out and I really don't have the time to film and edit videos. (Although I might start a channel, just not for my project.) So this time I am switching making a Legend of Zelda cosplay. Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite video game series and because the new game, Legend of Zelda; Breath of the Wild, is coming out in March, I am making a Link costume in honor of that. (Also I am kind of obsessed with Link and all things Legend of Zelda. Majora's mask is my favorite game in the series.)

I am also doing this because I started making a Link costume last year but I couldn't finish it because of lack a supplies, that size wasn't right, problems like that. I can use the already existing pattern and ask for help because I am part of the 4-H sewing club. That's all I have done. Maybe next time I can post a picture of what it looks like so far. Here's what I am basing the costume off of.

This week I am just waiting to go to my moms so I can order the Led lights and the trucks and grip tape for my skate board. But right now I am pretty far in my project, I already painted it with white with the base and I spritzed blue paint to make it blue splatter paint. Also I sanded the edges of it like, going all around the skateboard. I am thinking  in two Wednesdays I should have the supplies. If something goes wrong and it does not come I just will have to plan and wait until it does come.

Progress

These past two weeks, I have made valuable progress in my genius hour project. My goal is to find the ultimate diet to affect my running performance in means of increasing speed. I have decided to conduct three trials testing different diets for running. So far, I have completed extensive research for diet and created a chart to document my findings. This past weekend, I completed my first run, which I consider to be my "control run". This run will serve as a base to compare my experimental data to, so I may see if I the diet I am using is working. I recorded several data points, including variables such as date, time, and location, in addition to many others. As I go forward, I will conduct my trials. The first trial run consists of eating one serving of oatmeal, with one tablespoon of flax, 1/2 a banana, and sweetener with one cup of water. I'll eat this an hour and a half pre-run. I plan to complete this run within the next week to continue making progress. As I go forward with my trials, I must be sure to keep my variables the same so I may achieve the most accurate results.

Genius Hour Update

For my genius hour project I am doing molecular gastronomy. Which is when you test the chemical reaction of ingredients when cooking. Previously I made a recipe called surprise bubbles (A recipe that puts a clear coating around whatever you put in a sodium alginate bath) and it failed. I think it's because of the mixer I used.This week I am very busy with fundraisers for my team and my little sister has soccer so I don't really have time to make more nor the ingredients. I will try to make another recipe Thursday (tomorrow) but i'm not a 100% sure if it will happen.

Update G-60

So far I've been trying to find music to use and it's going pretty ok. Right now i'm still finding music and I finally got the dates for my project. Next i'm going to finish the music list. Try to make some of the test. Over all my projects is going along well.

Emma Ertel - Piano Book Update

In the past week or two, I have been really trying to improve the quality of my book. Since I am making a piano book, it is important for me to have it done neatly so I can read the music. I currently have the front and back cover of the piano book done, and I have written one song. At the end of the year I want the book to have at least ten songs. In the next week, I want to finish decorating the covers of the book, and I want to have at least three songs done. What style of music do you think I should put in my piano book?

Signing to Songs

I have been learning to sign to different songs. So far, I have learned how to sign to the songs Rockstar by Nickelback, Heathens by twenty-one pilots and, I hate you I love you by Gnash. Some of the songs are ASL and some of them are PSE. ASL stands for American Sign Language, and PSE stands Pidgin Sign English.

My Last Change

This is my last change. What I am going to do is learn a good form for shooting my lacrosse stick. Then, once I get my form i'm going to test my accuracy for shooting at the top of the net, the bottom, and then the top. The reason i changed is A) because I football season is over B) Because i wanted to do something with football but it wasn't working so i changed sports and found something liked.

Tomorrow I will be making a video and putting it on YouTube. I am trying to snowboard better so I don't fall over as much. I also need to stop better and not fall.

Hypnosis: New learned things

This week I found that most hypnosis is self hypnosis. This means that most hypnotizing is done not by the hypnotist  but by the person being hypnotized. There is also such a thing as one hypnosis which means that just by listening to a recording you could actually become hypnotized. All in all I would say my project is coming along nicely.

G40 Update - PILLOWS

So far I have completed one pillow and I am almost done with the second. I am going to sell the pillows for $4.00 per pillow. All profits from the pillows will go to a scoliosis support group called Curvy Girls. I am planning on making ten total pillows unless more are wanted, then more will be made. All pillows are being made by hand. I am currently working on the second pillow. (Purchase a Pillow 😜)

This past week I have still been trying to memorize myself solving the Rubik's Cube. Today I will keep that effort up and next I will video myself and share it with others.

Hadley- Youtube Project

I'm soon gonna get a lot of manga from my birthday party, so I will be reviewing some series on my channel. I'm also going to get adobe photoshop, so I can make my channel Icon and banner. I've been watching videos related to what I want to do on my channel. This helps me find out how to make these videos.

My Tank Is Almost Done

My tank is almost done. All I have to do is put little boxes around the outside and do some touch ups here and there. Then the last thing I think I'm gonna do is make different turrets to change the tank up sometimes.

Gravity Essay Update

I am still working on my second paragraph. In the second paragraph I am writing about Sir Isaac Newton's theory on gravity. Today I worked on my second paragraph. Next time  I will work on my third paragraph. In my third paragragh I will write about Einstein's Theory on gravity.

Genius Hour Update- Lily Thomas

So this Wednesday I did a four person broadcast that hit 300 views in under 10 minutes which is actually low for my broadcast but our frames were low for some reason in the school that day. I am doing 2-5 broadcasts every night and they are very consistent and every night at I broadcast expect one night out of the week or the night I coach 3-4th grade basketball. I have also started broadcasting me and my friends playing volleyball, football, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, and many more sports which also get a lot of views. I am almost done with sanding my bike. Than I am going to spray paint it then I am going to take it to the trail and make a cool video.

Turning

I have finally got my turret to turn. I have a little rod sticking out of the bottom of my tank then I have a hole going through the hull. When I put the rod in the hull the turret will then be on top. Then there is a small hole through the little rod that I put a pin in so the turret can't fall off but it can rotate. Then next thing I think I am going to do is put a little door on the back of turret for details because that is what is on the actual tank. Then I can put the little boxes around the side of the hull for details.

I changed my project to a sled made out of cardboard and duck tape so i went to home depot to get cardboard and duck tape and i started shaping the front of my sled
