Making a Potato Gun

Materials List.

1  4 inch clean out cap

1 clean out adapter

1 4ft PVC pipe

1 4 inch union which goes from 4 inch to 2 inch

1 3ft section of 2 inch PVC pipe

1 Package of PVC cement/primer

1 Flint lock igniter

1 Bag of Potato

1 Can of Hairspray

Procedure to Make a Potato Gun

1.  Glue 4 inch PVC pipe which is about 2 ft long to the clean out adapter.

2.  Glue the 4 inch pipe to the 4 by 2 union.

3.  Glue the 3 ft section of 2 inch pipe to the 4 by 2 union

4. Drill a 3/4 inch hole for the igniter into 4 inch cap

5.  Insert Igniter into the 4 inch cap. Fasten with crimp nuts on both sides of cap

6.  Insert potato of right size to fit into 2 inch hole. Jam potato down pipe

7.  Spray hairspray into 4 inch adapter quickly attach the 4 inch cap.

8.  Flick igniter and watch fly.

My G40 update

G60 update

1/31/17

For my G60 I am making a long board from scratch. I glued, pressed, and sanded my own deck. Right now  am working on the graphics for the bottom of my board. During all of this I had a lot for help from Mr. Kizuka. Lexis Strause and I have been working on our projects together, sharing ideas, and just learning together.

So for my G60 I decided to change it from doing a shoe donation to remolding my closet. The shoe donation was getting to hard and this way my dad can help me with the supplies.It will me much easier and less time consuming for me because all i need to to is clean out my closet(witch I needed to to anyways) was the walls paint and put the shelving together kinda easy I think.

Genius hour update- Lily Thomas

So I did a live broadcast with three people during genius hour on Wednesday and the broadcast hit 175 views in 30 minutes! Since the school has a firewall I can't link the website and my account but the app is liveme and my username is Lily.Jane. I will be doing another live broadcast every night at 7pm.

Genius Hour

Today back to more researching and today we were told that we have to do a 1 to 2 minutes ted talk and all I have done is research. But today i did start to make my Chart in google docs With what I am going to to because my sister did not take her part for them. So I started to plan every thing out on the graph. and I will hope to finish most of I today. A lot of this project is researching on what they can and cant eat and what can hurt them.

skateboard update

I don't know what I am doing for the led lights because Mr Kizuka told me to look up the blazer boards and they are almost $50 so I don't know if I am just going to get regular lights or not I just have to talk to my parents on what they think for what is better .  Other than that I am doing well with my project because I am in the process of getting the truck kits from eBay.  Before I put the trucks and stuff on I need to put a clear coat of paint so none of it chips off.

Genius Hour Update

For my genius hour project I am doing molecular gastronomy.Which if you don't know means its when you test the reaction of certain ingredients when cooking. Last week I looked up recipes and picked out some I liked. This week I haven't really started to make the recipes but I know I plan on making two of them.I did attempt to make a recipe called lemonade bubbles a while back but it failed I am pretty sure it's because in the recipe it called for a certain mixer and I did it by hand instead because I didn't have that certain mixer.Which took longer making the sodium alginate become a glob of jelly like substance.Which was not fun to clean off the utensils I was using afterwards.I plan on trying to make one either tonight or Tuesday when I have time.

So far, my project is going really well. I am starting to get my music. I have found a website full of royalty-free songs. For those of you that don't know, royalty-free means that I can use their music for no cost, as long as I give them credit because they made the song. Please remember I did not write these songs!! Any way, I am super excited to share these songs with you guys!! 

Genius hour gravtiy essay

 This week I finished my hook. I began to work on my second paragraph. I am currently working on the second paragraph.  Next I plan to work on the third paragraph. After that I plan to work on the fourth paragraph.

G40 Sword

I am making a sword for my G40. I almost have enough information to start making the sword. I need to print out the templates and cut them out. Then i can start making the sword. I have the wood to start making the sword. All i need is something to wrap the hilt in. So hopefully by next week i can start making it with the templates.

Samson's Genius Hour #7

Greetings 7th Grade, welcome to my blog. Since it has been a while since I have talked about my game, I shall tell you. My plan is to create a puzzle platformer game. Once I get to learn more mechanics on the game engine I should be using, I should start programming by the end of January, but if my procrastination gets in the way, then it'd then start in mid-February. I do not wish to start it there, so hopefully it'll be by January. As for what I have been doing recently, I have downloaded Gamemaker Studio as my game engine on my laptop at home. As for during school Genius Hour, I watched Gamemaker Studio tutorials. Alright, good luck on your Genius Hour projects 7th Grade!

Today I researched charities to give the money I will raise to. I chose Save the Children. Save the Children is an organization that helps kids around the world. Weather it's the way they act or just where they're from they help make there lives better.

Sign Language...

I'm in the process of learning sign language, it's not easy. So far I can sign the alphabet, a few phrases, and the numbers 1- 19. I'm not quite sure how to do 20 yet, but I will figure it out. Right now I'm attempting to figure out a way to learn braille. Braille is a way blind people read things, it is little dots lined up in a certain order. I'm going to go around the school using the braille system to read it.

My New Project

The last few months I have been researching/skating and trying to make rocket skates. I don't know what I was thinking that idea was just above and beyond plus my parents have been trying to make me change my project since I started but he finally broke me after he did not agree with buying all the things I need to complete my project, so he finally got me to change it. That was just the first paragraph to what my new project is going to be about.

when you going to be acting writing scripts and making skits. I will be holding skits pretty much anywhere and take a video of them and put them on my YouTube channel. I really want to do this project because this is the most fun class I have and I really like acting and I want to extend it to a whole other level. I very much enjoy video editing, I video edit all the time for my YouTube channel and I have 50 subs and gaining

This past week I have been narrowing down the fabric I am going to use and I have been making the logo. Today I am going to research the reviews on each fabric and what it is like so I can get the best. Soon I am going to buy the fabric and start working on it this week. After that, I am going to plan the weekend I am going down to the beach to sell my bags and pick up trash with some friends.

Updates!

So, as you all know, I changed my project two weeks ago. I changed it from donating money to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) to teaching diabetics about their insulin and how their pancreas works with my dad. So far, it is working out. I just need to find a time slot that will work for everyone. So, that is what I want to accomplish soon so it is ready for the talk we are doing next genius hour. I also need to plan out a speech and some slides for the talk. That is what I will be starting this class. I hope I can get it done in time.

Geting everything together

This week I have to go to the home improvement store. G 40 is almost over and I need to build my snowboard fast. To build the snowboard will not take as long as you think, because if you put everything on it will take one night to keep it together. One cool thing about building your own snowboard is to keep it together is glaze coat. Today I will go to the home improvement store.

G40 Update!

I have already made one pillow, I'm working on another. I think that the cost of the pillows is going to be $3.00, but I'm not positive. I will go over the receipts again and decide on the best price for the pillows. The pillows are panther paw shaped to go with Schuylkill Valley Panthers. I will be making 10 pillows total, unless more people want them, then I will be making more.

UPDATE on composing music

UPDATE#4

          I've been working a bit more on my piece and it's starting to come together. I'm planning on writing the piece in sections. I'm still thinking on how many sections there will be. So far there are 6 sections and I'm still working on the 7th section. I think I might do 12 sections to the song, making it around 5-10 minutes long.

Hypnosis update

What I did this week was begin trying to hypnotize myself. It was my first time trying that so it took me a while to figure out. The video was supposed to make you fall asleep. I couldn't get it to work though. I also realized that I am pretty much the only one in seventh grade that is doing hypnosis for my project. So far, the project is turning out to be pretty nice. I will keep working on it this week and I will tell you about it some more next week.

Emma Ertel - G60 Update

This past week I have been putting together my piano book cover. I decided to get a piece of cardboard, put a piece of paper over it, and then decorate it. I punched a hole near the outer edge of the cardboard, but I'm not sure what I should use to attach it. I am planning on finishing the cover, and making two piano songs by the end of this week. Hopefully I will be able to do more than that. My mom agreed to help me print all the sheet music, but after thinking about it, I have decided to just write the pieces out so it will be easier. I am going to research more about how to make a homemade  book after I write this, but I am pretty sure I know exactly what to do now. So far, my project is going great!

Details

I have flattened our the hull of my tank because it was really fat.  I am also trying to find a way that i can get the turret on the tank to spin around. Once these things are done all I need to do is some detailing and my tank will be finished but I might do a little touch ups here and there.

Update-Leigha Forry

So I made a batch of bath bombs but when I put them on the counter to sit they crumbled up and didn't keep the shape of the mold. So I just threw it away. For my next attempt I will be trying to recreate the original lush bath bomb Intergalactic. I will be going on to the lush website www.lushusa.com. So that's basically all I'm doing this week.

Today i will be working on my side project. Im doing this becuse I have to get the materails to build my Aframe so im going to do that over the weekend.

NEW PROJECT

Ok this project has been going on for a while but first let me get you caught up. First I was learning to do bunts and hit left handed but then I wanted to do something with music so here it is.

In the 2 quarter of my school year there were about 6 people that were in short turn failing. I have read somewhere before and from experience that music helped study.  So in my geography class we sometimes do notes by our selves so in one class we would do notes normally. Then next class take a test on that. The same class do another notes but listen to music of your own or the compilations I will make. Then take a test similar to the one before but with what type of music you listened to.

I wont to see if this helps people in my grade remember things better and see if we learn better with music or quite.

i already got aproved to make my cake i just have to get the suplies. i will need lots of marshmellows for fondant and cake mix. im going to need to get cake pans and butter cream spreader. i also need the food coloring to color my fondant.

I finally found a good editing software for my videos, and I am going to edit my video today. I am researching mics for better sound quality. I've been watching videos that have a lot of views in the same field as me. I'm making my next video at the end of this month. It will be me reviewing all the anime I watched this month.

My third poster was one of the best so far but now i am off to my fourth poster but just saying it will have a little magic in it.

Landen Jamison Skateboarding

This week I have finished doing a few tricks on the skateboard. I learned how to ollie with help from Mr.Kizuka. I also have learned how to do a few tricks on the skateboard too like jumping onto the skateboard when it is upside down. I also learned how to flip the board around and land on it.

Gravity Essay Update

This week I worked on my 1st paragraph . I am still working on the the hook of the first paragraph. Next time I am working on my hook. I am also going to work on my second paragraph . My second paragraph is going to contain my thesis.

Lily's genius hour update

I have made a new YouTube video for my channel. I am ordering a new camera, lights, and a new microphone. I have made two collaboration videos here at school and when my new camera comes I will make my own personal videos and up load all of the videos at different times in a period of one to two weeks.

Late

Sorry, I know that this is late but I've been busy. I am changing my idea for the last time and I think that this is the best one. I am now trying to change the lunch menu. I have heard from kids that
'they need to change the menu' 'there is nothing new for lunches' so I'm trying to make a change. I am doing surveys on the lunch menu and I will try to add new menus and try to have an item served less. I know that I will not be able to please everyone but I am going to try my hardest. I already have a few responses but I am trying to get the who;e grade to answer.

Samson's Genius Hour #6

Hello 7th Grade, welcome back to my blog. Gamemaker Studio is back to consideration! If you haven't read my previous post, I was talking about considering using Gamemaker Studio for my game instead of Unity. I then decided not to since a friend in my Genius Hour group gave me more thoughts on Unity. Anyway, I was searching on the Internet recently for Unity tutorials and found this video: Gamemaker Studio vs Unity 5. This was perfect! Not only am I told pros and cons of Unity, I can learn more about Gamemaker Studio! This was incredibly convenient for me, so I took a peek. I am now back to considering Gamemaker Studio as a possible game creation engine I should use. You may post your thoughts in the comments if you so choose, but I probably not remember to come back here to read it.  If I do remember, I would take your thoughts into consideration. Instead of ending off with my usual "good luck," I'm going to end it by showing you a six pac (get it? It's Pacman. Do you like my jokes I took of the internet? NO REGRETS!!!)

NEW TRICK!!!!!

Today I learned a new trick I was so happy to learn this trick because I was trying to get it for so long. The new trick I learned was an Ollie. I also found out that I was doing it all wrong. I will be able to get a video of it out later but for now I am going to be doing new tricks.

I have to start to video me skateboarding. I'm gonna make a video clip. And i still need to learn how to balance even better. Im gonna try to go down the ramp in the hallway without falling or jumping off of it.

       So I have a new idea for up-cycling: some stores sell T-shirts for example: 5-below ( obviously they are low quality ) and they are only like 5 dollars so it would be a good beginning starter. I also might go to a Good Will store to get some supplies and or clothing.

              I found it amazing that the titanic split into before it sunk and that they went pretty far before sinking. And that they didn't even fill all of the lifeboats they had. Also its pure irony how they said that the ship was unsinkable but on its first trip it sank due to one of the only things that could make it sink.
