I finished my bat just need  few more touches on it. The bat came out better than I thought it was going to come out. Its looks really good for just sanding it not using anything else. My bat will be done next week.

Working on my speech

Okay, so I've reached my goal of an outfit basically. I have made two shirts and a cardigan. But I think that is pretty good so I am going to most likely present them at my Ted Talk. I might even wear one but i'm not going to say which one. But I would also like to talk about my friend Jessica Hummel right now. She is selling anklet braclets and rainbow loom braclets. You guys should totally check them out she makes custom braclets in any color. She has not sold a lot and all money goes to CHOP. Please go and email her if interested in her products.

Volleyball tournament

Today I found new dates for the volleyball tournament because if the snow days. I finalized all the papers. The sign ups will be handed out on Monday during ISTA. The tournament will start on the 4th of April.

New Trials

Over the past week, I have worked on organizing the data collected from my previous trials. This weekend, I plan to run two trials to test performance in relation to sleep. Many trials have been conducted proving how important sleep is to athletic achievement. I plan to research in advance the details of my trials.

This week I put the trucks and the grip tape on my skate board. I still need to put the led lights on. Tomorrow I have skateboard club with Mr. Kizuka and I will hopefully get the light on then. Samson's Genius Hour #13

We are at the point where things should be wrapped up for our TED-Talks. As long as I finish at least one or two levels (that are fully functioning), this shouldn't be a problem. If you guys thought I was going to make a full game with intense story and fun levels, what do you expect from a 7th grader who has never worked with Gamemaker Studio before to do? I am still questioning myself on what some buttons do. Now, if I don't give up on my game (a.k.a. forget about it entirely and play video games), I may try to work on more over the summer. It will be more like a hobby than a project, but who knows. Anyway, good luck on your Genius Hours 7th Grade.

Snow is a hard thing to deal with, for school! G-40

The past week I couldn't really do anything because of snow. I had the 2 set of first round test scheduled for Tuesday BUT a snow storm decide that it would walk right in and say "no work for you," and only sic people had taken the test from the first round.  I couldn't really do anything cause I have the playlist done. :( Now I have new dates for the two tests. Next I hopefully don't have anymore interruptions in my testing, and I forgot to mention that instead of doing the whole grade I'm only doing three sections.

Gravity Essay Update

This week I worked on my fifth paragraph. My fifth paragraph is my conclusion paragraph. I am currently working on the fifth paragraph. Next I will work on editing my essay. I will make my essay more descriptive and add quotes from my sources.

18JPWerley Rubik's Cube

This past week I have memorized how to solve the 2x2 Rubik's Cube. By just using algorithms from the 3x3, I didn't know I could solve it. Today I plan to work on my TED Talk and solving the Rubik's Cube faster and faster. This coming week I plan to work on my TED Talk at home that way I can come prepared next week to work on it more.

Sword

I don't know if I will be able to finish my sword. I didn't even start it and I keep forgetting to bring in the blueprints. We have very little time and I still have to show Mr. Mohn. I have the wood in his room but I never started on my sword.

Today's the day!!

Today, I am going to the Clinics to teach the diabetics class with my dad! I am really excited and glad that I have the opportunity to teach other diabetic patients how to take care of themselves.

As far as the preparation goes,  I have finished the slideshow and got all of the supplies needed to teach. I will be leaving at 1:30 today to go up to the Clinics. It is about 45 minutes away.

We will be teaching the basics on how to manage their blood sugars and how to take insulin properly. They will have a follow up class in about two weeks. I will not be able to attend that class because it is on a Monday. I have dance class Monday that is mandatory to attend because we have competition really soon.

I will have pictures ready for the Ted talk I will have to be preparing for. My dads co workers will most likely be taking them on my phone.

I am so happy that I have the opportunity to teach diabetics. This is a start to a healthy life style for them. They have been really sick so often that it feels so normal to them. I am here to guide them onto the road to improvement with their diabetes.

           My parents and I found a recording studio, and I might be able to record a bunch of music pieces I've written and make an album! I finally finished writing the music and I'm now just practicing it. Since the site I found was easy to work with, I might write another music piece.

G40-Update-Time to buy pillows

I have several pillows created, genius hour is coming to an end and several people have said they want to buy them. If you want to buy a panther-paw pillow please bring money to me, Sara Motz any time this week or next week. I will be leaving all the pillows in my locker throughout the week. The pillows cost $4.00 and the profits will be going to a scoliosis support group. Children all over the world have scoliosis and some don't know how to deal with it or want to find people to relate to. This organisation helps those kids and also helps fund different cure organisations. I am not making any money off of these pillows, about 62% of the money is going to the organisation, the other 38% is going toward paying for the supplies to make the pillows. Purchase the pillows to help support a great cause that gives support and help to children all around the world.

Legend of Zelda Cosplay - Erianne Fox

I am almost done....except, maybe not. Last week, during the days we had off, I stayed inside and started working on the actual costume some more. Then I realized that I was nowhere close to finishing. So now I have to do something that I love/hate to do when I have to finish a sewing project. Stay inside all day, watching youtube and anime while sewing my project.(I actually have done this before for 4H.) Emma Ertel - Finished!

So I successfully finished my project over the snow days and the weekends! I will not be blogging every week anymore since I have nothing to blog about anymore. I am glad my project is finished so I don't have to worry about getting done on time. Anyways, I am very excited for the ted - talk!

The Video Is Coming!

This week I plan to make another video for TV studio. I am deciding not to do my script in class anymore because it is taking to long, but I will work on the script in my own time. Next week I think that we are going to start the ted talk.

Genius Hour Update

First of all, I apologize for not posting in a while. I have been extremely busy with getting the 3pt Contest together. By the way, the 3pt Contest was a major success! We raised $337 from the 3pt Contest alone. Total, we have raised over $400 for CHOP. While that may not be a lot compared to other fundraisers, every penny helps towards making a sick child's stay there better. Right now I have been working on finishing up the free-throws, and getting ready to submit the money to CHOP.  Thanks to everyone who helped out in this long process towards helping kids a CHOP!

Signing, signing, and more signing

Even if my project seems easy to learn but its not easy. The signing part is easy, but the remembering part is the hard part. Learning  ASL and PSE at the same time is really hard. ASL and PSE are completely different, ASL stands for American Sign Language, and PSE stands Pidgin Sign English.

No Phone till 4th quarter update

It's been a pretty hard quarter for me bc I didn't have a phone, I still don't. It's actually easier than I thought. I'm not staring at a screen 24/7. I still wake up in the morning sometimes and look for my phone, but I don't through the rest of the day. It hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. I actually have been working on a painting, it's actually almost done. I've had more time to work on my drawings. My overhand serve has definitely improved. I've gone outside to hang with my friends more. I've had a lot of free time, so I get more sleep, I'm not as rude in the morning. I still am of course bc it's me, but it's not as bad. I've talked to my family more. I think that's good. My parents are proud of me, because they don't have to yell at me to get off my phone, we're getting along a lot better.(we always got along, but we just agree more) Overall Life is Better.

More Trials

My genius hour project is to complete a study on running. Currently, I have found the optimal pre-workout diet and will continue with my trials while testing a different variable, such as hours slept. I am planning to run two trials for this variable, one in the morning, and one in the evening, using the same diet for each. As I go forward, I will work on collecting and organizing my information.

Genius Blog 9

This week my capo came in. It is silver and has black padding. It is very helpful and it gives the guitar a dramatic change to the notes. This week I have started working on different song so I can play this one at the ted talk. Next week I am going to keep working on the song so I can get it perfect.

Project Update - Erianne Fox

Things are ok in the kingdom of Hyrule (Or, my rec-room, where I am putting everything together. I had to call it that. ) I haven't restarted the sword and I ran out of mod podge so I had to use school glue. Not as strong as the Mod Podge, but it will do. This week I was working on the actual costume. I finished the hat. (Not going to lie, it took literally 5 minutes.) Today I am working on some accessories (or gloves to be more specific.) This week I plan to finish the costume and hopefully restart the sword. That's about it. Good luck on your projects.

Learning Tricks- Rylee Mann

Last time i blogged all I could ride in a straight line... and that's it. Now I have been practicing how to do little tricks on my skateboard... I can go faster in a straight line, and flip over my skateboard and jump on it. Im learning some more tricks and watching some videos. I will update you next week.

Samson's Genius Hour #12

Welcome back to my blog. Decent progress has been made on my game. It is pretty buggy though. I've been trying to fix the end of one level to try to continue to the next. I've procrastinated a little bit on this, so it still isn't fixed. That is pretty much it. I am no professional developer, but I am trying my best. I am also sorry about the short blogs recently. Hypnosis building update

This week I built some hypnosis items (pendants, relaxing items.) I still need to find the right stuff for the pendant but I should find something by next week. Anyway, video wise, I have really been going deep into ASMR. In my older post I mentioned this before, it's a kind of quiet talking that triggers a tingly feeling throughout your body. This will help me because if you put someone in a trance you have to keep a steady and soft voice. By next week I should have my pendant and ASMR done. I will give you an update next week. Bye!!

So far I have made 3 pillows so far and I plan on making 2 more over the weekend if I have time. Next week I will be selling them during Genius Hour. If you would like to purchase one, they will be $4.00 and I am in Mr. Jenkins Genius Hour. The profits are going to a scoliosis support group called Curvy Girls. They help girls with scoliosis understand what is happening and why they may need a back brace. They also raise money to help find a cure. Do you remember the scoliosis test that happened in gym not too long ago? Well lots of kids have cases of it that range from mild to severe. Lots of kids have to get surgery for there back. This support group is specifically for girls, but that is because scoliosis appears more in girls than in boys. If you don't want to buy a pillow, but you still want to support the cause, you can donate however much you want.

Update - Emma Walsh

Last week, I almost finished my slides. I have about 2 more sides to do. I have been planning and practicing my speech and how I am going to teach while accompanying my dad. My dad will be there, helping my teach. I will have all of the props ready and I will have my slide show up, too.

This week, I am planning on finishing my slideshow. That won't take too long. So the rest of the time I will be seeing what kind other props I need and how I will be using them. I will be needing insulin pens, pumps and syringes. The syringes come with a bottle of insulin. I already have a glucose meter and test strips.

I have gotten really far with my project, and I am really excited for the teaching session at the end of this month!

Update - Almost Done! Emma Ertel

Great news! This past week I got so much time to work on my project. I have it pretty much done and ready for the ted-talk. I may make a few little touches here and there but I am very happy with how my piano book turned out. I can't wait to present it and see if people like it or not! Anyways, over this past week I finished up the backside and the songs. I only had to finish one and a half songs so it was pretty easy. This week, there is not really much I am going to be doing considering my piano book is almost done, but I may try to trim off the edges of it so it looks cleaner. Going forward in these next couple of weeks I am planning on perfecting my piano book. I am going to make any little changes that will help the appearance and performance of the piano book. I look forward to updating you next week!

I haven't really been able to do a  lot of thing this past week but I was think still about my project. Now that I think about it I don't think that I explained the project i'm doing now. If I did i'm doing a mini explanation. I'm using music to see if kid in my grade do better with or with out it. Now I had finished the format for the test except for a couple of questions. Next though I plan on getting my first part of my data and aniline it.

G40 Tensa Zangetsu

I went to the library to go and print out the blueprints and the library was closed. So I have to try and go tomorrow or Friday. I need to print out the blueprints and put them on the wood when I cut the wood in a sword shape.

Genius hour post 8

I ordered the capo and it will be coming soon to my house. When I get the capo I will learn how to play another song. I will also know the different notes that will happen when I put on the capo.

Journey to Hyrule (Or something)

The new game comes out Friday! I am so excited for it but right now lets just stick to looking at stuff from the older games, maybe some details from this game in the costume. After doing some research on the new game, (Because I am kind of obsessed!) the signature green costume from the other games, will be available in this new game. Basically they are hidden in a chest somewhere and you have to find it if you want to wear it. Totally off topic, I know, but anyway, back to my project. I had to restart the sword due to complications with the design, structure, and strength of the material. (Actually, it just broke in half but I guess you could say it was all of those things.) I am almost half way done with the costume and the reason I mentioned the green costume is that I am doing a green costume and I am sticking to the original Link with some details from the new game. I am thinking of making the costume reversible and have one side blue and the other side green, so that I can get the best of all games, and because I am almost done with the costume, but I'll only do it if I finish and think I have enough time to do it. This week I am planning on starting the sword (Again) and working on my costume along with some of the accessories. (Maybe an ocarina?) That's all for now. Sorry I can't get a picture this week but I'll try next week. Random new game fact. This may or may not be a spoiler for you. If you think it might be, do not read. Here its is. The first minute or so of the game is a voice, saying "Wake up..."

Great accomplishment !

Great accomplishment: So i didn't blog last week but that was because I made a tank top! Anyways though let me tell you what I did. The piece of clothing I used was a older t-shirt from Hollister. What I did: I cut off the sleeves I wasn't gonna cut off past the seam but I ended up cutting past it. I really did like the end result i'm thinking it could be used as a swimsuit cover up in the summer time. Then again I can always just use it as a regular day shirt and style it up with a knot at the side or something like that.

I have been trying to get to Joan fabrics and other stores. I am hopping today I can email or call one of their managers and ask them if there is any fabric they can give me. Soon, if they have fabric for me we will be able to go and get it i will also try and get in contact with other stores.

Might change Project - Might

This week I was thinking about changing my project to making a game because on my dad's weekends because I don't see him a lot. On my mom's weekends when I want to go up to Blue Mountain we are always doing something on her weekends.  I will change my project.

LEARNING HOW TO SHOOT A GUN IN COLOMBIA??? - ISABELLA

Since I'm going to Colombia for personal reasons, I will be missing about 2 weeks of school I was thinking I could go to a shooting range there and I would do as much research as I possibly can on the regulations and gun rules and try to compare them to the ones on the United States, also what do you have to do to legally buy a gun there. Since my uncle was in the army of Colombia and he owns guns I was going to try to go to the shooting range with him and have him teach me since he has experience and he is someone I really trust and think is responsible enough. That will be it for this week.

I Finished Writing the Music!!

The Sheet Music

    I finally finished writing the sheet music for my music piece! The music piece is 9 pages long, and I also wrote a total of 160 measures for left and 160 for right, making a total of 320 measures. The piece has 7 sections. I haven't timed it, so I don't know how long it is. Right now I'm just editing some things and perfecting it. I still haven't come up with a name though. 

Update 3/1

My genius hour project is to conduct a study on running. As I have gone through this process, I have tried various diets hoping to increase speed. Yesterday, I ran my third trial run, using a new diet. I increased my speed from my control run significantly. Also, I have completed my trial chart through which I have recorded my data. Currently, I am researching fresh variables so I may continue completing trials. As I go forward, I plan to complete more trials and organize my information.

There is not much that I have to do but, there is still a few things I want to learn. For example, I could talk to a deaf and possibly teach them how to sign. I've been researching cheap mics for better sound quality on my videos. I'm getting Project Diva Future Tone for my ps4 and I will be playing it on my channel as soon as I get it. I will also be playing a game I have, Tales of Zesteria. I will be trying to get every Tales series game as a side project. I will be getting Tales of Berseria, and Tales of Asteria first. I will do a let's play on all these when I get them. I also hope to play Assassins Creed when I get it for my birthday along with Future Tone. I will see if I can get the Sword Art Online game that just came out. I hope to play all these games on my channel.

Hypnosis: Starting to build

This week I started to work on building hypnosis equipment. I am going to build it at my house and make things like pendants, masks I can where, and other items. I am also going to be trying to help people with problems and help them relax if they are going through tough times. I am also going to find relaxing music or words to help with relaxation. Next week I will give you and update on how far I am getting.

    This week I need to buy the trucks because I need to find the right size so it is not to small or to big.  I also need to buy the LED lights because I am trying to find the right cost and length.  Lastly I need to buy grip tape so that I will be able to skateboard properly.  I hope that in the end my skateboard turns out like what I am thinking of.

Genius hour update!

So far into my project, I have finished some of my slideshow for the presentation. I have not gotten that far because I was very busy last weekend, and I have a dance competition this weekend. So today I am going to try to finish a few more slides for the slideshow.
As you might know, the date of my presentation is coming up at the end of this month. My dad will be taking pictures, so I am prepared for the ted talk we will be doing. Most of my project is done, I just need to present and finish the slideshow.
I am very excited for this project, and I hope all the preparing pays off.

Update on Piano Book - Emma Ertel

This past week has been very hectic. There has been a lot going on, and in between I had to try to find time to work on my piano book. I had a lot of dance, piano, and choir going on this past week, so I tried to work on my piano book either right when I got home from school or when I got home from an activity. I haven't really gotten too much done this past week, but I am happy to say that I have successfully finished all of the songs. I don't have my piano book here in class today because I did get one of those spiral things for the spine of the book but it was just too big and it wasn't working right. I plan to go back to get the right one soon. Anyways, I don't have my piano book here today because I don't want it to all fall apart since I don't have the ring anymore. I am planning to just do research today. In the next two weeks I am hoping to have my whole piano book done! I can't wait to see the result!

This week I accomplished sanding the wood of the bat. So now I have a circular piece of wood. It isn't the same shape as the bat but I have the circular piece of wood. I'm working on sanding the bat down tp get the bat shape. I plan to have the baseball shape by next G60.

Figured My Project out fully

I have figured my project out fully i am going to practice every g40 day. Then out that say day I will go home and immediately do the accuracy.

Rubik's Cube 18JPWerley

This week I plan to write down how to solve the yellow face and the last layer. At home I plan to study them and memorize them, that way i can video myself solving the Rubik's Cube.

My Script

This week I plan to write more of my script... To go back in time a little I said I would be done the script in another class or two but I well over estimated it and It will probable be another week or two depending on how long I want the movie to be. So this week I plan to do more script and help Luke spray paint because it takes so long to dry in the meantime I will write script.

Last week I finished she 10 most successful movies. This week i had a survey that I'm gonna ask people. The survey is to find out what sv's favorite John Hughes movie is. Next week I will go around and ask people.

Gravity essay update

Today I worked on my fourth paragraph. My fourth paragraph is comparing the two theories.I worked on improving my Second paragraph. I will continue my forth paragraph next. I will also work on my 5th paragraph.

Finished editing my 1st video

So this week I am almost done with my power point and have finished and editing my video. Then I edited my power point and next week I am bringing the dry ice soda and testing it to see how many pieces of dry ice it takes it to fully carbonate. Then I am also going to make a video on that and finish my power point.

Upgrade Potato Launcher

What I did today in my Genius Hour was I found out how to upgrade it and what I found was being able to add more launchers, Having to be able to hold a explosion in a potato launcher,and being able to add more without the launcher exploding.

Close to Completion

My G40 project is to conduct a study on running, pertaining to diet. I would like to find the optimal diet to increase speed. As I have been doing so, I have made serious progress. On February 5, I ran my control run, which I am using to base my experimental data off of. Eight days later, I finished my first trial run. This increased my speed from my control run by 0:00.08 seconds. Yesterday, I completed my second trial run, in which I used a different diet from before. This increased my speed from the control run by by 34.93 seconds, which I am very pleased with. I believe this is because I partially used syrup, which is high-glucose, fast-absorbing energy. I hope that as I complete my final trial in the next week, I may be as effective in increasing speed as I was this week.

Volleyball tournament

Today I went through how the games would be and which teachers could go downstairs to watch. I also figured out where different homerooms would be for ISTA.

This past week we have been calling places to see if they have any fabric they were going to throw away and we would take it.  Just so we can do more of  a reusable project. Today I am looking up more places we can get fabric from.

Genius hour post 7

This weekend I plan on going to Walmart so I can get a capo. A capo is a piece of metal that you put around the neck of the guitar and it will change the sounds and notes you can use. When I get the capo I can learn more songs and become better.When I learn more songs I will have even more things to show for this and I will-then always remember what I did for genius hour.

Part 2 to my project

Part Two

           Since I already finished writing the song in my head, I have decided to write the music piece on as sheet music. I talked to my parents about this and my mom said when I finish writing the sheet music, I could possibly get it copyrighted. Another thing that I could do is make a CD with the music pieces I've written. Once I have a bunch of CD's, I could sell them. So far with writing the music I'm probably around half way through the piece. 

G-60 Update

I already took off all the side pads and the seat and gave the bike a good scrub with some water and some dawn soap. I got a new spark plug, a new ignition, and some oil. Now i''m soaking the rusty chain in some old gas/oil mix. Im working on getting the old ignition out and the new ignition in.

So last week, my dad asked the bosses if it was okay to for me to teach. The bosses said that was a great idea, and the date would be March 27, 2017. 

Today, I would like to start a power point to teach. I will have how to take insulin, what happened to their bodies/ pancreas and how to treat high and low blood sugars. 

Hopefully, I get about 2 slides done by today, and finish the power point in about 2 weeks.

Like I said in the last blog, I am learning to sign on songs. The song I am the best at is Heathens by twenty-one pilots. I am starting to learn Dollhouse Melanie Martinez, it is hard, but it has a lot of repeating words.

G60- April Hanson

My G60 is knitting and crocheting different things. I wasn't working on it that much so I thought I would change it, but then I didn't really know what to do. So I am still doing knitting and crocheting. I am crocheting something right now, but I don't know what It is yet.

This week I needed to find out the truck size for what i can order online so i do not order the wrong thing.  I asked Mr. Kizuka what the depth was and it was 8.25. So now I need to look up what is the right truck size for my skateboard.

Samson's Genius Hour #10

Welcome back to my blog. Not as much progress today, procrastination got in the way. I hope it won't get in the way over next weekend (the days I work on my game). Honestly, I don't have much to update this week, so good luck on your Genius Hour Projects 7th Grade. Don't procrastinate.

I finally got the game I want to play on my channel, and I set up my master account on my ps4 so I can record it. I also have got some manga I want to do first impressions on. I also got adobe photoshop so I can edit videos so I can make them better. I made my first video, but the file got corrupted, so I can't upload it. Hopefully my other videos will have more luck then that one.

G60 - Emma Ertel

Over the past week, I have managed to create a sort of song theme to my piano book. I want the songs to sound like professional songs so I have been working really hard on them. I have only made about 3 songs so far but that's okay. I want the project to last the whole year. As far as the cover of the piano book goes, it is about finished. I want to add some little touches and all that, but besides the spiral ring on the spine, I don't really have anymore to do. I have been super busy with dance since there is a competition coming up, but I am doing my best to work on the project a little bit every night. I plan to get most of the songs finished by next weeks genius hour. I am very excited for how this project is going to turn out.

G40 update #2

For this update I drilled my holes for my trucks and wheels and put them on. I came up with graphics and we are now printing them on vinyl to put on the bottom of my board.

UPDATE

I have been lately trying to figure out how to do a graph to lay out the data I will be collecting soon. Now i'm planing to start building the graphs. In the upcoming weeks I plan to collect my data, add MORE music to my playlists and set up the graphs for when ready.

My genius hour project has recently changed. It is going well I have been working on my form and this is probably the last day i work on my form and ten I will be doing accuracy with my lacrosse stick.
