Yesterday I got a new phone so now I have more storage than my other phone. Now I can do more editing on my YouTube. I created a new playlist yesterday it is a colts connected franchise. To day I looked up where to put a time capsule. You do not wont to put it in the ground or somewhere not wet. You need to keep it between 30 and 80 degrees faerenheit.

I have to change my G40 project

I have to change my G40 project because my dad got it running without me. Now I have to find a new project and I cant figure out what to do. I want to make a D-pole. A D-pole is a 6 foot lacrosse pole that defense uses. This is going to be fun.

Today I looked at some of the tools i will need. I also need my wood. I have to ask Mr. Mohn if he can help me shape my wood. It is going to be cut down to size.

Volleyball Tournament Update

I talked to Mr. Crills and will talk to him again later. Right now the volleyball tournament is to see who the best homeroom in the grade is. It will be on day 1 istas in the gym. There will be 6 players on a team and each player has to pay $3.00 or more. The tournament will be held in January or February.

What I continue to do is think of ways to fund raise. I am definitely thinking of putting fliers at the Schuylkill Valley community library for this cause. I don't know where else to put up fliers... 

This class I am going to think of a name for this fundraiser. I have no clue what it is going to be. 

Last week, I looked into which one is better, The JDRF or the american diabetes association. I am still going to go with the JDRF for multiple reasons.

Up-cycling my first shirt!!

Gladly I got to up-cycle my first short sleeved shirt I won't be able to wear it till the summer but that's okay. I'm really happy with how it worked out . Oh and I almost forgot to say that I made it into a tank top so I ended up cutting the sleeves off and I did that last genius hour and not this one. I also had this shirt since maybe 5 grade and it still fits so i'm really happy about that. What I did: Cut the collar off, cut some off the length off and , made cuts i believe it was 2 inches in the shirt I will insert a picture somewhere so you guys will understand what I mean. The pictures are on my phone so i'm hoping I can up load the pictures to google or whatever.

This week I found out that A.C Moore has the best prices for felt compared to Micheal's and Joan Fabrics.

I am expecting that over break I will go and buy some felt from A.C. Moore.

After I purchase it I will figure out the best price.

Right now I am trying to find a way for me to go to A.C. Moore. It's hard because of the Holiday.

Update on my project - Emma Ertel

So I have decided to change my project yet again. Finding something I am really passionate about was hard, but I do believe my latest decision is the last time I will change my project. I have decided to create my own piano book with all of the notes and lessons in it. I will still try to vlog so you can actually see if the songs works, but vlogging might be hard to do on something like a piano book. I plan to take my time on each page of the book, and make the songs actually sound like songs, so this way my project will take me the whole year. My mom also has a degree is music, specifically piano, so she can help me do all of the printing and copying. I don't really know how to make my songs into an actual book, but I will do my best. Tell me what you think on this new idea, and if you like it.

Wow!

Wow! In two weeks I have raised 15 dollars for CHOP already. I am also backed up until March with staff members who are interested in donating. I am only going into mid- April. Some of the new donators are Mrs. Sigoda, Mrs. Moerder, Mr. Ambrose, and Mrs. Miller. Last week the total donation amount was $4.18. If any students are interested please let me know.

Samson's Genius Hour #3

Greetings 7th Grade and welcome back to my latest post. Not as much progress has been made this week, but I did download Unity on my computer at home. I am still confused on how to use Unity. However, I shall search on Youtube tips and tricks to Unity. My new goal is to learn how to use Unity during break. Hopefully all should go as planned. On my genius hour project I am cutting out the hull of the tank. THEN I WILL PUT a dow rod on the front of the turret. THEN I WILL put a dow rod connecting the turret to the hull so the turret can SPIN.

I accomplished this week getting all the supplies to build the baseball bat. After Christmas break I'm going to start building the bat.

I started picking out what colors I want for the bottom of the skateboard. I picked a black base and a lot of bright colors to splatter onto the bottom. I was not able to get the lights yet, and I will probably end up getting them soon. I think this plan will be successful.

So, I wanted to have the tournament here in the gym on a Saturday but the school won't allow it. I am now going to contact Ozzy's and see if I am able to have it there. If they do let me, they can make money as well.

Changing my project

I was originally going to do a sports magazine type thing, but i have recently changed my project. I'm going to do a blog on google sites every week about who the player of the week was for sports. Sometimes it might be football or maybe it would be a basketball player. Basically all of sports. I am also going to be making you tube edit of the player I choose.

Mr. Bender's G60 Project: Post 1

As many of you know, I've been laboring on my basement since before the end of last school year.  I love my house, but I bought it knowing that I'd need to work hard to make it the perfect home for Danielle, my wife, Boss, our boxer, and I.  We've completed various projects that were both necessary and unneccesary in our home.  It is fun, stressful, and exciting.

Lately, we have been riding a full wave of stress, irritation and excitement.  Pictured below are photos of what my basement looked like before we purchased the home.  I often referred to it as my time machine because it likely went unchanged from the 1970's.  With the help of my stepfather, we are making great strides.  I had to remove the paneling, flooring, and ceiling tiles before we could even start.  This was disgusting as rodent droppings rained down on me with each ceiling tile I disturbed.  Additionally, I did not secure the discarded paneling well enough, and they flew into my car, scratching the paint for the entire length of the car.

Lastly, we have made great progress.  We now have painted walls.  Drywall was hung, spackled (we hired someone to handle this task), and painted.  It looks incredible (pictures to come).  I also added many electrical outlets, put in lighting, prewired my speakers.  Our bathroom is just about completed as is one side of ceiling tile.  The ceiling is very difficult to hang.  We had to re-hang various parts of it, and now, we are cutting holes for the speakers which tests the wills of both my stepfather and I.  This weekend, we hope to finish the ceiling, hang my projector and screen, and begin tiling one side of the basement.  The carpet guy is also coming to measure the basement on Sunday.  Hopefully, we will be finished by the Super Bowl!

Harder Than Expected... Post 2

After changing my project from raising money to making skates, I started watching videos.... And immediately noticed how hard this project would be. I watched several different videos from robot made roller blades to homemade ones. A lot of people made skated with normal running shoes, and that's what I think I'm going to do Now I need to find out what materials I will need. Wish me luck...

Change of plans

Sooooo......... I changed my Idea many times because when I talked to my parents, they said not to do it. I finally have a genius hour project that is NOT gonna change. I am going to do a dodgeball tournament for local companies. All the money that I collect will be going to the Animal Rescue League.

Game Creator : Genius Hour Project

My genius hour project is creating a video game. In this genius hour session i worked on coding and creating characters for my game. I used a great website called scratch. scratch lets you create characters called sprites. Scratch also lets you create sounds and motions for your sprite.

I accomplished getting some of the supplies for the baseball bat. I am working on getting more of the supplies for the baseball bat. I hope to be working on the bat soon.

Genius Hour Jillian Lindauer

For my genius hour project I'm going to go a full month without my phone, to get un-addicted to my phone. First concern, I'll need someone to keep my streaks, so hmu. I'll keep a notebook to say how I feel without my phone, and what I do instead. I'll only use my phone to text or call family members only. Again hmu if u can keep my streaks.

In the future I plan to start cutting clothes, try to make clothes, and try using a sewing machine. On Wednesday I watched youtube videos, looked at my sewing machine and made sure it worked good. I also did more research.

Business is boomin'. In the past two days I have gotten 11 staff members who have agreed to donate to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. A deal was made with Mrs. Overman to get the money to the hospital. Mr. Bender and Mrs. Syret agreed to donate for one month. Starting To Get Things Done

I have started to make the tank. I have made the turret at home i just need to sand some parts down. I am going to soon start to dimension the base or hull of the tank. Then once I do that I am going to get a piece of wood big enough then draw the hull. Once it is drawn I will cut it. All that is left after that is the barrel, the turret spinning part and detailing.

Landen Jamison Skateboarding

This week I started to try to ride a skateboard. With help from Mr. Kizuka lending me his board I was able to ride it in the hallway.  I had a friend video tape me and I am going to try to put together a slide show of all the video's.

Making a computer!!!!!!!!

I am going to get a computer from the school if they have one and if there is a duplicate I will combine them to make a "super" computer.I want to do this cause i have a computer at my home but it is very slow and i do a lot of gaming on it and sometimes it can only run one or two games at ounce. When I want it to run 3 or maybe 4 games it just goes too slow and it wont run skype or any thing when it running two games.

Major Advancements

I have made major advancements in my planning. During this G40 period, Mr. Bender asked me about how I planned to perform my trials for testing my running tips. Will I test individual changes, or test the tips as a whole? This was essential to moving forward in my research. It dictates the entire course of my project! So, during this G40 period, I worked on creating 3 trial versions, or how I would test my research. I plan to complete my calendar this week, and find out exactly how I will perform my trials. I have already ruled how NOT to do my trials, so I just need to figure how exactly to do it.

Molecular Gastronomy

Currently I am looking up recipes for my project. I have a few in mind such as lavender and honey ice cream and edible river rocks. I plan on using supplies in my house because I don't really have a chemistry lab so it would be easy and other students could try it. I plan on getting the supplies I don't have at the grocery store. I found most of the recipes on a website called molecularrecipes.com it had a lot of recipes that were easy and affordable.

Today I went around during G60 and I got data. I changed my project. My new project is making makeup. The most used products are mascara, eye shadow, and concealer.

Changing my Project? - Emma Ertel

I was thinking about my guitar recently, and I decided it was just not the project for me. I kept trying to make it and put it together and I was just failing. Instead of building a guitar, I have now decided to build a volleyball. I recently joined the volleyball club, and I will definitely join the team as soon as I have more experience, so I thought this would be a great project for me. Tell me what you think!

More researching more about guinea pigs: about what to feed them and when. When they should have time out of there cage, when they are up and I learned that they are up all the time. I researched and they are sometimes loud but not all the time, but mine are always screaming at me and never are quiet.

RPG creation update

So far I've been experimenting with scratch, as I said in my last blog post. I haven't gotten that far but there may be a way that I can create the entire game on scratch, instead of the two or three different websites. This idea of creating it all on scratch my be harder but I'm sure it can be done. I've changed pans because it turns out that it is really hard to find a free, online RPG creator. If this doesn't work, I has a backup plan but until then, I have to stick to this one. I've started to design the characters but I can't get the pictures. Maybe next time.

For my project, I am making an acoustic guitar. I figured this would be a great project because I think it will take me a long time to do it. I bet none of you have the UTAU program. so I'm not even gonna ask if anyone has it(If you do, well, help me out man). I can't find out why Teto's voicebank won't work, so I need to find out. I really want my song to sound like this, were you can understand the words.

This past video I made the video match up with a large amount of the beat. I do make the video match with the music always, but this one is better than any other I've made.

I did have some issues exporting the video, but all is good now.

For my genius hour project I'm making a piano i haven't done a lot at all its going to be less than half the size of a grand piano soo yeah

I made the measurements to how deep to dig the hole. I looked up how much wood i would need to put all of the stuff in it. I looked up how much wood cost to make the time capsule. That is what i have been doing out of school.

G40 project update

I finally downloaded the UTAU program, but I couldn't find an English voicebank for Tei, so I went with Teto, and her English voicebank wasn't that bad, you could her every syllable fine. I'm having trouble downloading her voicebank to the UTAU program, but I can find that out soon. I've been watching videos, but I can't find anyone with the same problem as me. I don't want to use Defoku, the default voice. Her english isn't very good. Oh well. I'll find out how to fix this.

For my genius hour I am doing a YouTube channel on my YouTube channel i post thing on NBA2K17 and Madden 17. So far I have only uploaded one video is it a NBA MyGM I made a team from Vancouver and I am going to take them to the championship. I am trying to upload at least 2-3 times a week. At first I was uploading on my phone then I figured out that I can upload through my play station.

Update on G40 project

Last week, I looked at different donation sites and different fund raising ideas. 

This week, I would like to go onto the JDRF website: http://www.jdrf.org/

and look at how to donate and where different percentages of the money go. If 80% or higher of the money that I donate go to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes, I will go with the JDRF. If not, I will check out the american diabetes association:/http://www.diabetes.org/?referrer=https://www.google.com/  to see if the percentage goes to the association.

This week I researched more on how to make a reusable bag and started working on my selling pan flit. I also made a list of my materials. The cloth pattern was picked out and is going to be baught next week.

Post 1 Genius Hour - Emma Ertel

For my Genius Hour Project, I have been working on getting information to build my guitar. I haven't done much to start actually putting it together yet, but I am almost done collecting all of the information I need. I asked my dad if he could get some wood and carve out the shape of the guitar at work, so that's how I am going to start building. I still have to go to the store to get all of the supplies that I will need to put the guitar together. I watched a YouTube video on how to build a guitar. I am definitely not going to be able to build a guitar that fancy, but I believe I will be able to get something that is somewhat close to an actual guitar.               My genius hour is doing a bake sale to raise money for the animal shelter. So far I have found the prices for all the items I need to buy for the bake sale. I have also started planning what my poster is going to look like. I have also figured out the amount of money I have to spend on all the items.

So far for my genius hour project i have been watching videos and reading articles about how to make an american football.

New idea

My first genius hour idea was to make a soccer ball but I decided to change it because it didn't profit anyone. I decided to make and sell baseball caps. 80% of my profits will go to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). I am only keeping 20% so I can keep making hats and donating money.


             

For my genius hour project i am doing the worlds first smallest spiderman grappling web slingers.
I am in the midst of gathering materials.I have the wristbands,battery holders,and momentary switches.I am currently waiting for two normally open blood pressure monitor solenoid valves,heat shrink tubing,wire and im also getting borax and glue to make my sticky web like grappling formula .

Changing my Project - blog 1

I had a project all planned out... but I felt like it was work and I wasn't looking forward to working on the project. I was going to make tie dye shirts, socks, and beanies to sell to raise money for children at a Children's Hospital. The thing was, like I said, I felt like it was working and I was being forced to do something I really didn't want to do. So I decided to change my project. I'm going to attempt to make roller blades that I can actually use. I love skating during my free time whether its outside or at a skating rink. So starting today I'm going to start watching videos on YouTube on how to make roller blades.

Post Two: Cookbook Genius Hour Project

For my project, I have to make food, which is not that hard. Here is a recipe I made recently.

This recipe calls for frozen or fresh veggies, chicken strips, and any kind of noodles. 

First heat a medium sized pan with butter, or any non-stick spray. Then, throw your chicken strips into the pan. Sprinkle a little bit of crazy salt on the chicken and let it cook. On the side follow the directions on the box of noodles and use a fair amount of noodles. Let it  boil. Take veggies and throw them into the pan of chicken when the chicken is done. Pour noodles in when they are done.  Put a little bit of olive oil into the pan, sprinkle some crazy salt on top and saute till it smells really good.

I am putting wood together to make the turret of the tank. I went to HOME DEPO to get a BAND SAW. Next I plan to make the hull of the tank.

For my project I am making a sort of horror type RPG sort of like fnaf. But not fnaf. I am NOT making a fnaf remake or fan game. For those who don't know, RPG stands for role playing game and fnaf stands for Five Nights at Freddy's if that wasn't already obvious. I say "sort of horror type" because it will still be horror in the sense that it have the same unsettling feeling but there won't be any jump scares or maybe there will be jump scares. You never know. So any way, so far I've been experimenting with coding websites like scratch. I want to move on to actual RPG creators but all of the ones that I've found so far are only downloadable or you have to pay to use them.
