G40 Creating a Sword of Wood

For my G40 project I am going to be taking a big piece of wood and turning it into a sharp sword. I have to make it out of wood because I don't know how to, it would be very hard I don't have enough metal, and i would have no where to do it at. So i am making it out wood. I am gonna be trying to make a katana, but a certain one. I am going to try to make a sword called Tensa Zangetsu from the anime Bleach. I am hoping to make and paint it the same.
